With NYFW just around the corner, the parent company of Google, Alphabet, has been making some serious moves into the fashion world. A few weeks ago, the company made announcements that they would be running promotions and initiatives throughout the week to add some interactivity to the event as well as some much needed interest for those on the outside looking in. Since their inception, Google has been about connecting people to the rest of the world; this effort aims to connect those not on the RSVP list to the new looks from all the shows and and explore the world of NYFW on their terms. And just this week, they have taken things a step further to make the looks shopable, that is that the images you see as part of this curated delivery will have links and direct-to-cart checkout features. Apps already exist with this functionality such as LIKEtoKNOW.it and Polyvore, but the scale of this coverage has never been seen before and should make for one of the most influential fashion week's to date. I'm even more excited about the prospects of this same technology being applied to later events, most specifically the Men's Weeks.
I see you Google! Keep taking over the world, one task at a time. Let me hear your thoughts below!
